NFL Films, on behalf of the NFL, is the exclusive copyright holder in and to all NFL Footage. Note that "NFL game footage" includes any footage taken of events inside an NFL stadium (whether of game action, sidelines, crowd, etc.) from the period three hours prior to kickoff of an NFL game to one hour after the NFL game has ended. |

To order footage for personal home viewing purposes only*, please fill out and return Attachment B (Player Footage Request Form: Personal Home Use Only). Footage to be used for personal use will be provided on a DVD.
*”Personal home viewing purposes only” means the footage can only be shown privately to your family and friends. It may not be used for any other kind of use (e.g., corporate, charity, church, group showings, etc.), or given to anyone else for any type of use.

I have or work for a company and I would like to obtain footage of myself to be used in a corporate video. Is this something I can do? |

Yes. The first step is to fill out and return Attachment C (Player Footage Request Form: Non-Personal Home Use). For this type of use, there will be a licensing fee due, as this is a commercial venture. The amount of the fee will depend upon the actual use of the footage. For instance, the licensing fee for a one-time only showing at a small corporate meeting would be different than the licensing fee for a corporate video that is being produced for distribution to 150 company locations. You will be asked to give very specific information regarding the content of the video and the use of the video. If the footage is requested by a player (meaning the contract will be issued to the player), player rates will apply for all fees other than the licensing fee. This includes fees such as research, assemble, stock, etc. |

Yes, but because this is a commercial venture and you are being paid, there would be a licensing fee due for this use. The fee would vary depending upon how many times the footage will be shown, type of meeting, etc. Please fill out and return Attachment C (Player Footage Request Form: Non-Personal Home Use). A price quote will be forwarded to you once the request form is received. |

This type of use will require additional approvals. The first step is to return Attachment C (Player Footage Request Form: Non-Personal Home Use) with detailed information (description of the video, amount of NFL footage to be used, how the video will be distributed, whether the video will be sold or made available at no charge, how it will be promoted, the target audience, etc.).
Once approval is received, a price quote will be forwarded to you. There will be a licensing fee due for this type of use.

I’ve been contacted by XYZ Company – they want to produce a documentary about me. It will be sold as a DVD in stores and may possibly be broadcast. Can they use NFL footage in the documentary? |

This is another example of a use that will require additional approvals. Please complete Attachment C (Player Footage Request Form: Non-Personal Home Use) with detailed information consisting of a description of the documentary, length, amount of NFL footage to be used, how the video will be distributed, how it will be promoted, etc.
Once approval is received, NFL Films will be in a position to license NFL footage for this use. For sales of the DVD, there will be a licensing fee due which will depend upon the distribution, anticipated sales, etc. For the broadcast portion of the request, the licensing fee will depend on what market(s) in which the program will air, how many times it will air, etc.

I host a local television program that airs weekly during the NFL season. I want to use NFL footage in each week’s program. Can I do this? |

Yes. There will be a licensing fee due for this use, dependent upon the market(s) in which the program will air, and how many times the program will air during the week. NFL Films has an in-season program pricing structure. Please contact Lisa Heckman (Lisa.Heckman@nfl.com). She will provide you with a form and an information sheet regarding in-season programming.

A non-profit organization has asked me to appear in a PSA. They want to use NFL footage. Can I provide this to them? |

All PSAs need to go through an approval process. Please complete Attachment C (Player Footage Request Form: Non-Personal Home Use). A storyboard will need to be forwarded to NFL Films, and also information about where the PSA will air. The contract should be issued directly with the non-profit organization.
If the PSA is approved, the licensing fee will be waived. Other fees (consisting of research, assemble, posting, etc.) will be applicable.

A local TV station has contacted me. They want to do a piece on me that will air within one of their weekly programs. How do I get footage? |

In this case, since it is the TV station that will be using the footage, the TV station should contact NFL Films directly. |

Okay, I filled out the form and you sent back a price quote. Now what? |

Once you look over the price quote, agree to all fees and give us the go-ahead, a contract will be issued which will reflect the rights granted for the use of the footage and the fees due. At that time, an NFL Films representative will work with you regarding specific information.
Please be aware that when the contract is issued, work begins on your order. Please do not request a contract to be issued if you are not ready to move forward.
